Long Night…

As I sort of suspected, but didn’t want to believe…the extended fabulous period was most likely due to the prednisone effect. Mariella started “the cough” right at suppertime last night. Intermittent, but after all these years, I was fairly sure where it was going. By bedtime, she had asked for a treatment. I listened to her heavy breathing all night long. Of course, as is usual, she sleeps through it all (not well, she’s restless as anything, but she’s sleeping) I lay up, listening to her. As a result, we are both exhausted.

I’m not adding any of her “sick” protocol yet. I need to see where it goes from here. If it was just a bad night, then it was just a bad night, and we move on. If she totally craps out again…then we’ll go from there. I’m hoping it was just a bad night.
Furthermore, she had a bunch or really good eating days…where I actually had to STOP her from eating, so that she wouldn’t upset her stomach from overtaxing it…and this morning, she didn’t eat anything. I’m hoping THAT isn’t a trend.

Hope she doesn’t go back into flaring and it was just a bad night. And, that she regains her appetite, at least to some degree. My 4 1/2 days of green zoning and no rescue came to an end after lunch today. I kind of knew it was coming though as I’ve had post nasal drip and congestion for 2-3 days now. I lasted longer than I usually do though, so I’m not as annoyed or disappointed as I could be.

Poor kid <3. Darn prednisone effect, eh? Hopefully it's just a blip and she doesn't have to go back on the sick plan.

Hugs to both of you, and here’s hoping for a better day . . . and night ❤

Oh, I’m sorry. I hope you’re right about the bad night. How’s she feeling this afternoon?

Bad nights suck. So does breaking a rescue med-free streak. Doing both in a day sucks even more. I hope you’re both feeling (and sleeping) better soon!

My rescue-med free streak is going to come to an end the next day or two – I can feel myself getting progressively tighter and stuffier as the day goes on (plus my eyes were super itchy this morning thanks to my darn allergies!), and I’ve started the asthma cough again so it’s only a matter of time.

Ah, well. It was good while it lasted, eh? And hopefully, we’ll all be able to get back to a rescue-med-free streak before too long!

Kerri, you are not allowed to follow suit. Your lungs are going to continue to behave. She said she’s a little tight, but not ready for her puffer…and I’m trying to let her make the determination about that stuff, I’m not always going to be with her. Of course, if I think she’s not listening to her lungs, I’ll make the decision. She looks “off” but I can’t put my finger on it. We’ll see how tonight goes.
